Project Work Outline for MBA (Except TQM) in University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA)

This is the project work outline for UPSA. The format is a drastic adaptation or modification of the traditional format of Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion and Conclusion and Recommendation.

CHAPTER ONE

 INTRODUCTION

1.1       Background of the Report (font 12)

•      Provide background information on the issues under study, situate it within the Ghanaian, sectoral, regional or whatever the case may be; 

•      Provide facts, trends if necessary; provide the motivation for the study, etc

•      Each chapter should start on a fresh page

•      Page numbering start from 1 (and numbered consecutively to the end of the document)

1.2      Profile of Organization

Background, Mission, Objective, Product- Goods and Services of the organization(s) under study

Provide the profile of the organization (or sector, industry, or whatever the case may be) including the mission, vision, nature of product: goods and/or services provided by the organization under study         

1.3       Problem Statement

•      There should be clarity and logical flow of the establishment of the problem students wants to study. 

•      Students should explain the problem and justify that it has not been solved.

•      This is to be a typical research problem statement

1.4       Purpose of Project

Students are to state clearly the purpose or aim of the project, and the specific objectives 

1.5     Significance of the Project

Present the significance as it may relate to organization(s) under study, sector of organization, nation as a whole, particular people, etc

CHAPTER TWO

   PROJECT EXECUTION AND EXPERIENCE

 Take note, each chapter should start on a fresh page

2.1 Schedule of Activities of Students for the Project Work

§ Students are to provide a description of activities undertaken to achieve the project objective(s)

2.2 Explanation of Theories Used

§  Students are to explain and review any of: Theoretical, Conceptual Framework, Models, Tools or Techniques Employed/Used in the

Project, 

§  Students are to use only a type that applies to their project work and not to state all these items). Use whichever is applicable for your project work 

2.3 Empirical Literature Review

§ Students are to review empirical literature related to the project issues

 § This is to be typical research literature

CHAPTER THREE

        APPLICATION OF THEORIES TO REAL LIFE SITUATION

3.1 Explanation of the Nature of Problem in Study Organisation

§ Students are to explain the problem as it pertains to the organization(s) under study

3.2 Solution Provided for the Problem

§  Students are to provide the specific solution developed for the problem explained above

§  Students are to note that, this is one of the key aspect of the project work

3.3 Contribution of Students to Organization

§  Students are to state how the solution they have provided or developed for the organization(s) would help improve the performance or activities of the study organization(s), whichever applies

§  Students are to explain how they have been able to contribute to the organization under study, how they impacted on the performance of the organization, etc

                       

 CHAPTER FOUR

     LESSONS LEARNT AND CHALLENGES

4.1 Lessons Learnt

§ Here students are to provide lessons learnt from undertaking the project work

Depending on your type of project topic (may be application or not), the lessons may include what the theory you used says and what you found on the ground. 

4.2 Challenges

§  Here students are to provide challenges faced in undertaking the activities of the project work

§  The challenges are not the time constraints and monetary problems personal to the students

Students are to provide recommendations to the organization(s) under study and policy implications of the results or solution(s) they have provided/developed.
