Mathematics Syllabus for JHS
Why Teach Mathematics
Knowledge of science and mathematics is crucial to progress in practically every aspect of life. There can be almost no progress in any aspect of life without an understanding of science and mathematics. That's why education systems in nations that care about their progress place a premium on math classes.
The major purpose of the mathematics curriculum is to ensure that all young people in Ghana are equipped with the mathematical knowledge, understanding, and dispositions necessary for success in their future endeavours.
All students can and should be taught mathematics, two core tenets of the new curriculum. Therefore, the curriculum is created to accommodate the mathematical requirements of a wide variety of countries. Middle school (J H S) mathematics in Ghana expands upon the foundation laid in elementary school.
At the junior high level, students are required to go beyond basic mathematical concepts and apply them to the investigation of real-world issues.
Students who stop learning after completing junior high school as well as those who continue their education in college or beyond will benefit much from the solid foundation in mathematics provided by the junior high school years.
